Tiger Woods has won his 13th major with a two-stroke stroke victory in the US PGA Championship in Oklahoma.

Woods, the world number one successfully defended his title after a final-round 69 proved enough to hold off his rivals and maintain his amazing record of having won every major in which he has led heading into the final round.

Well done Tiger!

What a dopey lot!

The Tour de France hit its first ’scandal’ on the 24th when the first placed Astana Team withdrew from the race because team member and pre-race favorite Alexander Vinokourov from Kazakhstan tested positive for an illegal blood transfusion. Vinokourov’s teammates Andreas Klöden and Andrey Kashechkin were, respectively, in 5th and 7th place overall at the time.

On the 25th race officials announced that Cofidis team member Cristian Moreni of Italy had tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone, and the Cofidis team withdrew from the race.

That very same day overall leader Michael Rasmussen was fired by his team, Rabobank, for violating internal team rules by telling the team he was in Mexico in June while Davide Cassani says he was actually in Italy. A claim disputed by Rasmussen. He did, however, miss pre-race drug tests which would make him ineligible for competition anyway. He had been the overall leader and winner of Stage 8 and Stage 16. The lead transferred to Team Discovery’s Alberto Contador.

I wonder who’ll be next! Some of the riders could probably complete the race without their bicycles!
