Sony will cut the prices of its next generation PlayStation 3 game consoles in Japan next week. It’s also going to offer a new low-range model in November.

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc will cut the price of the model with 20 gigabytes of hard disk memory by about 10% to 44,980 yen (€274) from the current 49,980 yen (€304), with effect from October 17.

YouTube Preview Image

A PlayStation 3 advert which used images of a knife and gun broke industry rules because it risked glamorising violence, according to the Advertising Standards Authority.

Dizzy and the Yolkfolk

July 16th, 2007 at 10:56 am by Lord Bloggit

Dizzy was great! Dizzy was a very intelligent egg who featured in his own series of games in the 1980’s. Dizzy

Dizzy first appeared on the scene in the summer of 1986. Most of the games were arcade adventures and they were developed by the Oliver Twins who went on to set up Interactive Studios.

Dizzy could run, jump and roll around looking for different objects that he/she/it used to open doors/locks etc. Dizzy could only ever carry a certain numbers of objects at one time. Objects could only be used once and sometimes one object had to be used before another one would work. Other objects had no use and were just there to cause confusion! Dizzy

The only way I ever completed a Dizzy game was with an infinite lives cheat …. I could never complete it on three lives! It was impossible. Some of the Game magazines produced maps to the games and wow were those Oliver Twins evil ….. I learned early on that Dizzy couldn’t breathe underwater without his snorkel etc.

I loved the action games more than the arcade games …. the action games required thought and the use of brain power!

The Yolkfolk were all of Dizzy’s extended family …. Daisy was the girlfiend, then there was Denzel and more. Zaks was an evil wizard who always seemed to kidnap Daisy and was always demanding a ransom. Brilliant stuff!

Most of the games were for the ZX Spectrum and the games were loaded by playing a tape ….. talk about slow …. and there was no guarantee it would load after playing it. Even the cheats came on a tape that had to be played.

Dizzy was ‘the ultimate cartoon’ adventure’! Seymour Goes to Hollywood was a clone of the Dizzy games but nothing ever beat Dizzy!

I have come across some Dizzy games for the PC but I’m still looking for the cheats for infinite lives!

Want to learn more. This Dizzy Fansite is full of information! Enjoy!

Xbox’s billion-dollar headache!

July 6th, 2007 at 4:58 pm by Lord Bloggit

I see Microsoft are extending their Xbox 360 warranty cover to three years from the date of purchase. :!:

The new warranty will cover the general system failure which is indicated by three flashing red lights. People are already calling this the ‘red ring of death’!!

The new warranty is expected to represent a $1 billion pre-tax charge on Microsoft’s earnings ….

Poor Bill  …. no wonder he is the number two richest person in the world …

(If you’re interested the number one richest person is a Mexican tycoon by the name of Carlos Slim and he is worth an estimated $67.8 billion!!

Any chance of a loan Carlos? Bill will take some too to cover that extra warranty!
