Boyd Coddington R.I.P.

March 3rd, 2008 at 10:16 pm by Lord Bloggit

Boyd Coddington Rest in Peace

Boyd Coddington the icon of the hotrod industry died on the 27th of February 2008 at the age of 63. Boyd created custom hotrods and classic one off vehicles. Though I may have not agreed with the fast deadline approach to his car building I have to admire what he achieved in his life. He created with his hands and he entertained with his ‘American Hotrod’ shows.

Rest in Peace Boyd …. your legacy is indeed one that will stand the test of time.

Actor Daniel Craig has signed a €41m ($60m) deal to star in the next four ‘James Bond’ films.

The 39-year-old is filming Bond 22 at the moment - his second film as secret agent 007 following the success of 2006’s ‘Casino Royale’ - and movie executives have reportedly signed him up for another three films, tying him to the franchise for the next 10 years.

Good man Daniel …. your bank manager will be happy!

Eat it! Lick it! Snort it!

October 29th, 2007 at 11:25 am by Lord Bloggit

These are the words Britney shouted out as she left her last court appearance in relation to her children.

The woman is mad! So much for fame and fortune if it brings total absurdness with it.

Britney was a woman to be admired and desired a few years ago. She is only to be pitied and seen as an embarrassment now.

Censorship alive and kicking in Ireland

September 22nd, 2007 at 5:13 pm by Lord Bloggit

YouTube Preview Image

Sean Kingston’s ‘Beautiful Girls’ has been banned from Dublin’s FM104’s playlist.

FM104 said that it banned the song from its playlist because it felt it was no longer appropriate to air it with suicide at an all time high.

The song, which deals with unrequited love, has spent the last month at the top of the Irish and British single charts. There have been growing calls internationally for it to be pulled from television and radio playlists.

Kingston, a 17-year-old reggae-pop star, sings:

“You’re way too beautiful girl, that’s why it’ll never work, you’ll have me suicidal, suicidal, when you say it’s over.”

The song shouldn’t be banned from any playlist ….. this is political correctness gone totally mad. Suicide is a serious issue and many people have been affected by its consequences. Banning this song, however, will still not help or protect those who are vulnerable to suicide.

The song can still be found …. I googled it and found it immediately. The single is still available for purchase. Sean Kingston has a great voice and the song has a nostalgic air to it. Enjoy the song for what it is …. just a song …. and don’t ban it!

If you don’t want to listen to it …… turn off your radio!

Pavarotti is dead

September 6th, 2007 at 8:00 am by Lord Bloggit

Luciano Pavarotti

Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti has died at the age of 71.

He had been suffering from ill-health, having undergone surgery for pancreatic cancer in July 2006 followed by chemotherapy, and a series of farewell concerts had been postponed.

He had one of the greatest voices of his generation, and he achieved great success in his lifetime.

He never fully learned to read music. He preferred to memorise instead.

In 1996 he left his wife after 35 years of marriage for his secretary Nicoletta Mantovani, whom he married in 2003, they had one child.

The singer’s weight caused him alot of health problems over the years years. He was also in trouble with the Italian tax authorities, with whom he reportedly reached a settlement for the payment of arrears amounting to millions of euro.

A legend has gone.

Spears ‘to make comeback on MTV awards ceremony’

September 5th, 2007 at 10:37 pm by Lord Bloggit

Britney Spears will make her pop comeback with a performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The singer hasn’t been up to much (musically!) since 2003 when her fourth studio album was released.

Since then, she has only released a greatest hits album and an LP of remixes. She’s better known for her personal exploits.

A US newspaper claims Britney has choreographed a comeback and will perform two songs - new single ‘Gimme More’ and another track ‘Cry’ - at the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
