Lots Of Windows XP Tips!

July 31st, 2007 at 9:51 pm by Lord Bloggit

  1. Lock XP Workstation
  2. You can lock your XP workstation with two clicks of the mouse. Create a new shortcut on your desktop using a right mouse click, and enter ‘rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation’ in the location field. Give the shortcut a name you like. That’s it — just double click on it and your computer will be locked. And if that’s not easy enough, Windows key + L will do the same.

  3. Remove Windows XP system software
  4. XP hides some system software you might want to remove, such as Windows Messenger, but you can tickle it and make it disgorge everything. Using Notepad or Edit, edit the text file /windows/inf/sysoc.inf, search for the word ‘hide’ and remove it. You can then go to the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel, select Add/Remove Windows Components and there will be your prey, exposed and vulnerable.

July 31st, 2007 at 4:45 pm by Lord Bloggit

Mel Gibson - bad hair day!

Actor Mel Gibson has sold his Malibu mansion for a staggering $30m.

The Californian mansion has only got six bedrooms, but boasts a private terrace on the beach, along with a gym, a swimming pool and a wine cellar.

Gibson made a $6m profit on the Mediterranean style beachfront property after buying it for $24m in 2003. Not a bad result after 4 years!

The ‘Lethal Weapon’ star’s latest sale is his second in as many weeks - earlier this month he sold his 76 acre Connecticut estate for $40m.

Nice one Mel …. any possibility of a loan?

Hi!

Your website is where your business resides  - it’s like the headquarters of an offline company. It is important to practise good design principles to make sure your site reaches out to the maximum number of visitors and sells to as many people as possible.

Navigation:

Make sure you have clear directions on the navigation of your website. The navigation menu should be uncluttered and concise so that visitors know how to navigate around your website without confusion.

Water - some ‘drinking’ facts

July 30th, 2007 at 7:02 pm by Lord Bloggit

In 2002, a kidney specialist tried to find scientific evidence to support the advice that drinking eight glasses a day is more than adequate. His report in the American Journal of Physiology found that the rule was wrong.

The dietary guidelines provided by the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Research Council do say that humans need 1 millilitre of water for each calorie of food (about 10 cups a day). But the same guidelines say that we get much of this liquid from the water in solid food.

Italian Parliament - a legitimate Mafia?

July 30th, 2007 at 5:16 pm by Lord Bloggit

Apparently, the Italian Political Class are living a life of luxury and it isn’t pleasing the Italian masses.

Italy’s President has ordered the presidential palace to make sweeping budget cuts in a bid to appease public opinion.

The Palazzo del Quirinale costs €235m a year to run – twice as much as the White House and four times as much as Buckingham Palace – this is mainly salaries for more than 2,000 civilian and police employees.

The Italian parliament voted to cut their pension privileges and cancelled an annual grant of €3,100 for “travel and research abroad”, an amount paid to all Member of Parliament whether they travelled or not!

iPhone hacked for Australian network!

July 30th, 2007 at 4:21 pm by Lord Bloggit

Apple iPhone

The Apple iPhone has been hacked to allow users in Australia to make calls on the Telstra mobile network.

The hack doesn’t allow the user to receive calls or send and receive SMS. It is the closest anyone has come to unlocking the iPhone for use outside the AT&T mobile network in the US.

The device isn’t scheduled for release in Australia until next year.

Didn’t take long for hackers to do their stuff! The iPhone, like the Harry Potter phenomenom is over rated. :!:
